THE 2021 KIELDER FOREST RALLY

While much of the rallying world is taking an enforced sabbatical, the organisers of the Kielder Forest Rally aren't sitting idle and are well advanced with the planning for their 2021 event which will see the rally based in the attractive market town of Hexham with the competitive action taking place just up the road in the vast expanse of Kielder Forest. The iconic Kielder stages have been well used for rallying for many years, going back to when the Lombard RAC Rally brought the cream of the world's rally drivers, not to mention vast crowds of spectators, to the North Tyne Valley while the area has played host to home grown talent with the Pirelli International Rally forming a round of the British Rally Championship for almost 30 years.

The 2021 rally will feature a very compact format with 6 stages totally some 80 kilometres while the road mileage will be minimal. All the familiar territory will be used so whether Blasting through Bewshaugh or Sideways in Shepherdshield, the well known blind brows and many dep ditches will provide their usual challenge.

Rally headquarters for the event will be the spacious Hexham Auction Mart premises, conveniently situated just off the main A69 trunk road and with acres of space and some excellent facilities, including the renowned "Farmers Cafe", it offers plenty of room for the service area plus a large function suite for all the necessary rally administration.

Clerk of the Course, Steve Waggett, commented, " We have secured Hexham Auction Mart and the support of Hexham Town Council for our event and basing the rally here will give competitors the wide range of facilities they require before, during and after the event. We have some exciting plans for a ceremonial start, fit for an event whose inclusion in the BTRDA National Rally Championship is a fantastic and welcome opportunity for us and all of our team look forward to welcoming competitors to the 2021 Kielder Forest Rally".
