The BritishRally.co.uk Photo Competitions return once again for 2015.
DETAILS
BritishRally.co.uk will hold 8 monthly photo competitions during 2015. Please see below for the dates of each Competition.
JUDGING
We have had a number of different methods of judging the competitions over the years, but we will stick with what worked last year.
The winner of each competition will be asked to judge the next one. James Ward (Chicane Media) will be asked to judge the first (January) competition as he won the last one in 2014.
You can enter all the competitions, but if you win one, you cannot chose your own photos when judging the next one.
THE COMPETITION
The competition is open to anyone whether he or she is a professional photographer or just an occasional snapper.
Code:
Competition .............................. Opens ... Closes 1. Best pic taken in January ............. 1 Jan ... 7 Mar 2. Best pic taken in February ............ 1 Feb ... 21 Mar 3. Best pic taken in March ............... 1 Mar ... 7 Apr 4. Best pic taken in April ............... 1 Apr ... 7 May 5. Best pic taken in May/June ............ 1 May ... 7 Jul 6. Best pic taken in July/August ......... 1 Jul ... 7 Sep 7. Best pic taken in September/October ... 1 Sep ... 7 Nov 8. Best pic taken in November/December ... 1 Nov ... 7 Jan 2016
To give the non-digital snappers time to get their pictures developed/scanned each competition will run for 1 week past the end of the month in case any events fall on the last days of the month.
ENTRIES
For the early single month Competitions, you may enter a maximum of one photo in each competition.
For the later double month Competitions (re-introduced to try and encourage a few more entries), you may enter 2 photos, but they must be from different events (completely different events, not just different sub-events of the same event).
HOW TO ENTER
Once you have decided on a photo that you want to enter please check carefully to ensure it complies with the competition rules below then post your entry on the correct thread on this section of the forum.
Please also include the following information when you post your entry:
1. Your full name, 2. Who the picture is of (assuming you can identify the crew!), 3. What rally it was taken on, 4. Stage name if possible, 5. Camera equipment used.
The competition entries threads will be checked regularly - entries that are too large, from an event in the wrong month, or do not comply with any of the other competition rules will simply be deleted so please make sure you have read and understand the rules!
THE RULES
The competition is open to residents of the UK, Ireland and the Isle of Man only.
Posted photographs should be in the form of a JPG image. Scanned images are acceptable.
All photographs posted must be no larger than 640 pixels in width (forum limit).
A maximum of 1 entry per person per single month competition.
A maximum of 2 entries per person per double month competition (see above).
You MUST be the person who took the photograph posted. We will not accept any entries on behalf of 3rd parties.
The photograph must have been taken on an event taking place between the start and end of the appropriate month for the specific competition.
Only photographs from events in the UK, Ireland or the Isle of Man will be accepted.
If you feel you must put a copyright message on the image, please keep it small and not across the centre of the image - this is a competition after all and people should be able to see the photograph correctly - if you don't like this rule, no one is forcing you to enter!
The decision of the judge is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
We reserve the right to substitute or withdraw any offered prizes at any time.
No cash alternatives will be offered instead of prizes.
By entering you agree to abide by these competition rules.
Use of photo editing software is acceptable for adjusting colour levels or cropping, or a small amount of adjustment (eg. removing a little bit of tape or the corner of an arrow in the edge of your photo), but major modifications or changes to the context of the whole photograph are not acceptable - this is a competition about your skill with a camera, not your skill with a computer.
Pictures should be of a suitable quality for displaying on the Competition Gallery. We reserve the right to remove entries that are of a particularly poor quality and would detract from the rest of the competition.
