On the Saturday 29th September the excellent band Eskimo Spies (formally Cellor Door) will be playing at The Bridge Inn, Pontblyddyn in aid of the Wales Air Ambulance.
The evening starts at 7pm with the band entertaining from 8pm.
It should be a superb night and a packed Bridge is expected for this local band so please arrive early to avoid disappointment.
Recommended donation of £5 on the door.
Many thanks
Hughsie

Eskimo Spies play to packed Bridge Inn
The Bridge Inn, Pontblyddyn recently played host to the excellent local band Eskimo Spies in a charity gig that raised over £850 the Wales Air Ambulance.
A packed venue was expected and was seen after word had got round that the Eskimo Spies would be playing, and on the evening they did not disappoint! Playing a number of favourites and a few new songs The Bridge Inn rocked the night away and in doing so raised awareness and a large amount of money for a wonderful service.
The event was organised by Kerry Bateman and Mike Hughes of Mold with help from relatives and friends. ‘It was a bit of a mad panic to be honest as we organised the whole event within a month after seeing the band play at another gig. I work with James (Cameron - Guitarist/Vocalist) so when I asked him he said give me a few days to find out but then came back in 30minutes saying no problems!’ Kerry explained.
The night included a raffle with various prizes donated by friends and relatives and also a quick auction. A Wrexham Shirt singed by the full squad, a rugby ball singed by James Hook and a Skill’s Course Mountain Bike Day at Oneplanet Adventure, Llandegla boosted funds on the evening. Mike commented ‘I’m extremely grateful to all those that helped organise the event, the Eskimo Spies for playing, The Bridge Inn for hosting it and to all those that donated to the evening and drove the bidding up higher and higher. There was a great atmosphere so trying to gain order for the auction was a little difficult but certainly added to the entertainment.’
‘The night ran perfectly and the band was superb. Everyone has been coming in and asking when we are having them back?’ commented Glenys Leadbetter, licensee. ‘We have wanted to raise money for the Wales Air Ambulance after speaking to Kerry and Mike last year so when they asked about putting an event on at the pub we were more than happy to accommodate them and what a job they did, a real testament to the both of them’ added her husband Larry.
Plans are already being made for next years event which they are hoping will be bigger and better. ‘We’ve been asked to play again in aid of the Wales Air Ambulance and have already said definitely! Fingers crossed we will be back at The Bridge as it is a brilliant venue and the crowd seemed to have an excellent night supporting a great cause. To raise over £850 was just fantastic and the Eskimo Spies would like to also add a thanks to everyone who donated.’ commented James Cameron guitarist with the Eskimo Spies.
The night was organised as part of the Golden Hour Challenge week which the Wales Air Ambulance have been running to raise awareness of the service who have now completed over 7,500 missions across Wales. The Golden Hour signifies the first sixty minutes after the occurrence of multi-system trauma. It is widely believed that our chances of survival and early recovery are increased if we receive the right care within the first hour. The quick response times and the expert medical care provided by the Wales Air Ambulance crews ensure that this Golden Hour is achieved every time.
If you are interested in organising an event please contact the Wales Air Ambulance either via email at enquiries@walesairambulance.com or phone your nearest office on 08700 736999 in Wrexham.
