Hello guys!
ON the 19th May I leave Sheffield in my MK1 VW Caddy Ambulance Rally car for a 2000 mile cooking oil fuelled drive in aid of The Stroke Association.
Once in Germany at the VW factory in Wolfsburg, I will run a solo marathon around the city.
I'm doing this to symbolise the struggle a stroke survivor may face.
My father was left severely disabled by stroke 8 years ago.
Back then I had dreams of getting involved in Rallying with my Golf Rallye G60. After dad's illness, I struggled with life and rallying was the last thing on my mind.
Last year my cousin Michelle lost her battle with cancer following a stroke. Michelle had convinced me to do something positive to help others using the thing that used to bring me so much joy.
This is when I decided to use the old VW caddy wheelchair car to complete a rally for STROKE.
A film crew is following me on the journey and I have support from the likes of Volkswagen UK, Gilder Volkswagen ( UK's oldest VW dealer) Continental Tyres, K&N Filters, SAMCO, AUTOGLYM, The AA, DFDS Seaways, Holiday Inn Express, The Sign Shop, Ponsfords furniture, Manhattan Motorcyles, Powerade, WD40, VW Club GTI and a growing list. I'm offering businesses a great opportunity to gain exposure in return for a donation to The STROKE Association.
Gilder Volkswagen are currently preparing my Turbo Diesel engine to run on Cooking oil which has been donated to the cause.
I'll be attending lots of shows with the car ( Already invited to 3 major shows)
It's been a difficult time since my Marathon last May, but with the support of family and friends my mission is starting to make a difference. Thanks to all!
Here is a news update video about my 'rally car' :-)
